Find your way around

Start by checking the workspace name in the top bar. The same account can belong to several workspaces; switching changes the content you work with.

Choose the area for your task

The left navigation groups its menus under Knowledge (Dashboard, Library, Context, Chats), Workflow (Review queue, Lint queue, Activity, Search) and Workspace (Inbox, Settings). Which menus you see depends on your role in the selected workspace and on your own Labs choices.

Library is the source; Context is the explanation. For the Product Launch exercise, upload the launch brief to Library and write the team's current plan in Context. Updating a reference file does not automatically rewrite an approved Context page.

Show experimental menus (Labs)

Knowledge Map, Ask, and Agent are hidden until enabled for your account in this browser. Chats depends on your role; Review and Lint have Preview badges but no Labs switch.

  1. Open Settings → Labs under Your account.
  2. Select Show Knowledge Map menu, Show Ask menu, or Show Agent menu.
  3. The choice applies immediately, without Save. Other accounts, browsers and devices keep their own choices; denied browser storage retains it only until reload.

Knowledge Map additionally needs the workspace Owner's Settings → Workspace → Knowledge graph switch. A hidden Knowledge Map or Ask route shows the unavailable-page screen. Existing Agent document links remain usable, but browser Search excludes Agent results and its Agent scope while the Agent menu is hidden. Labs does not change REST/MCP permissions. See Knowledge Map and Search.

Explicit workspace addresses

Workspace screens use /workspaces/<workspace_id>/…. Context pages use /workspaces/<workspace_id>/context/pages/<page_id> and shared authenticated permalinks use /p/<workspace_id>/<page_id>. Copy the current link rather than replacing a UUID by a title or slug. Opening another workspace can require a choice or show an unavailable destination; it does not grant membership. The initial private workspace has ordinary ownership and is not recreated after deletion.

Open the top-bar Inbox for your workspace notices; /inbox is the account scope. See Inbox.

Read the screen

Many content screens use three areas:

  1. Explorer or list: choose a folder or item.
  2. Reader: view the selected content and its tabs, such as View and History.
  3. Details: check properties, versions, citations, or links.

Hide or reopen panels using their controls. On a narrow screen, navigation and details may open as a drawer or sheet. If a menu or tab is marked Preview, its behavior is still being refined; if it says unavailable, use the main reader or list.

On a phone or tablet, use the top-bar Open navigation button to open the menu drawer, and Close navigation or Esc to close it. Menu labels and the workspace name remain visible even if you collapsed the sidebar on a desktop. The top-bar Open Search icon opens Search when the desktop search box is hidden.

The search box in the top bar (Search or jump to a workspace area, Ctrl+K or ⌘K) searches the workspace and lists the menus you can jump to. Editors and Owners also see Create, which offers New Context page, New folder and Open Setup. Open Setup shows whether the workspace already has Library sources and knowledge pages, and AI rules when the Agent menu is shown. A missing action often reflects your role, not missing content.

Read the explorer markers

In the Context, Library and Agent explorers, each page or item row has a small marker before its title, in the colour of its section. Folders have no marker.

MarkerStatusMeaning
Hollow ringNormalNo meaningful content change in the last 72 hours.
Filled dotRecent changeThe content changed within the last 72 hours. For example, a page was published for the first time or with new body text, an Agent page was activated with changes, or a Library item received a new file version.
Filled dot with clock handsPending review or Changes requestedA review is open on the item's current draft. Only Editors and Owners see this marker, and only on Context and Agent pages.

Markers are not personal reading marks: opening an item does not clear them, and a filled dot turns back into a ring exactly 72 hours after the change. Saving or autosaving a draft, submitting it for review, renaming or moving a row, and changing only the title or tags do not count as content changes.

Check a row's status and actions

  • Point at a row, or move keyboard focus to it, to see a tooltip beside the explorer with a longer title and a status line, for example Recent change · 3 hours ago or Normal · Last content change 5 days ago. The title uses up to four lines and can end in an ellipsis when space is limited; open the item to read the full title. Press Esc to hide the tooltip. Touch screens do not show it.
  • Open a row's menu with its ⋯ button (Open actions for …), by right-clicking the row, by pressing Shift+F10 while the row has focus, or by long-pressing the row on a touch screen. The menu header repeats the title and status line. The available actions depend on your role and the item.

Mark your favorites

Any member who can read an item, including a Viewer, can mark it with a personal star.

  1. Open the menu of a Context page, Library item or Agent page row.
  2. Choose Add to my favorites.

Expected result: a yellow star appears on the item's icon in every explorer that shows the item, and the tooltip and menu add My favorite. To remove the star, choose Remove from my favorites.

Favorites belong to your account in the current workspace; other members, including Owners, do not see them. They stay when the item is renamed or moved. Folders cannot be marked, and there is no separate favorites list or filter. If the star disappears right after you choose the action, the change was not saved: reload the page and try again.

  • An internal workspace link requires sign-in and access to that workspace.
  • A public page link opens the separate read-only published page.
  • A page's History shows content versions. These numbers, such as v3, are page revisions, not the dtxWiki software version 0.2.1.
  • Chats and Ask serve different purposes: external tool provenance versus in-app questions. Chats is a regular menu for Editors and Owners; Ask appears only after you turn it on in Labs.

Common navigation problems

“I opened a link but cannot see the page.” Check the account and selected workspace. Request membership from the Owner if necessary. A link does not grant membership.

“An old tab stopped loading after an update.” Use Load the latest version or reload the page. If you were editing, first preserve any text still visible locally.

“I cannot find Chats or a create button.” Chats and the Create menu appear only for Editors and Owners of the selected workspace, and other actions also depend on your role. Ask your Owner which role you need.

“I cannot find Ask or Agent.” Both stay hidden until you turn them on in Settings → Labs. The choice is saved for your account in one browser, so repeat it in another browser or after clearing site data. Until Ask is on, an Ask link shows We couldn't find that page.
