Explore the workspace Knowledge Map
The Knowledge Map is a Preview map of accessible published Context pages, current Library material and active Agent documents. Use it to locate connections, then open the documents to read them. Current authored link and citation lines come from the Context source's published version; saving a draft does not add its lines. The Context Graph is a separate local view with relationship and activity history.
Turn on both settings
- In Settings → Labs, under Your account, select Show Knowledge Map menu. It applies immediately and is saved for your account in this browser.
- A workspace Owner opens Settings → Workspace → Knowledge graph and enables Knowledge Map for that workspace.
- Open Knowledge Map from the navigation.
Your Labs preference alone does not enable the workspace map. Each person has their own preference and each workspace has its own Owner setting. With Labs off, a direct map link shows the unavailable-page screen. With Labs on but the workspace switch off, the map explains the missing setting and gives Owners Open Settings. DTXWIKI_GRAPH_SERVICE_AVAILABLE=false lets the operator disable workspace maps without changing these choices. Local document graphs remain available.
Choose a lens and refine the data
The toolbar contains Lens, Find in visible map, Refine, View and the unlinked-document count. Choose Combined, Links or Evidence for the corresponding published relationships. Directory (preview) and Compare (partial preview) offer narrower views; Directory draws no document relationships.
- Open Refine to reach Search published documents and the document-kind controls. Context, Library and Agent start selected. Agent has its own document shape and Agent citation relation.
- Search by title or path, choose kinds and any folder/time filters, then choose Apply data filters. Staged data filters rebuild the scene only after Apply.
- A Relation observed time filter can leave Directory empty because that lens draws no relationships. Choose Document updated or clear the time range.
- In Refine's Display settings · immediate, use Show unlinked documents, labels and relationship visibility. These affect the loaded scene immediately and do not require Apply.
Quick filters such as Orphans, Highly referenced, Cross-folder and Recently connected help inspect structure, not factual quality. If a known document is missing, check both staged data filters and the immediate display settings.
Find Map items
Find in visible map searches the loaded scene, highlights matches and narrows Map items without fetching a new scene or moving the map. It does not search hidden or unloaded workspace documents.
Map items has counted Documents and clusters and Relationships sections. Without a search they start collapsed; expand one to browse 10 at a time, then use Show … more. Searching starts the result view with these sections expanded. Relationship results are grouped as Between matches, Kind name matches, Matches → other documents, and Other documents → matches. Open a group to inspect its rows. Choosing a row selects its node or relationship; the document's separate Open link visits it.
Large scenes may represent documents in clusters. Expand a cluster to inspect its members and use the next-cluster-page action when offered. A Context page's Show in Knowledge Map action is available only with both activation settings on. Its focus link can highlight the document's cluster or temporarily show an unfiltered scene; the notice explains that saved filters did not change. Unpublished or inaccessible targets may remain unavailable.
Follow a selected document's Relationships
Select a document or cluster and read Map details → Relationships. Incoming and Outgoing initially show five relationships each. Use the direction's Show … more action for the next five. Search these relationships by name, folder or kind. With a nonempty relationship search, Escape clears that search before it clears the map selection.
| Action for a selected document | Result |
|---|---|
| Open / Open document | Opens its readable content. |
| Center / Center on map | Brings the selected node to the map's center. |
| Explore / Explore neighborhood | Opens the local neighborhood for a Context document; this action is not available for Library or Agent documents. |
For a selected citation relationship, inspect Retained citation evidence. It identifies any exact evidence retained on the source's current published version; the field guide explains version IDs, original-location JSON and empty results. A published document reference can create a citation line even when this panel has no retained version/artifact evidence.
Read size limits and recover the view
The map offers 2,000 nodes and a 10,000-node PC option. Mobile and unrecognized devices use at most 2,000. Check represented-document counts, cluster representation, coverage and omission notices; a display limit does not guarantee a full workspace inspection.
Selecting a node highlights direct relationships. Click empty space or press Escape to clear selection. Hover only shows a label. Use zoom, Fit and Pause layout / Resume layout when available; pausing motion changes neither documents nor publication. Some large scenes use a fixed layout.
The interactive renderer needs supported WebGL capabilities. After a failure use Retry or Map items, Context and Search. Reset saved map state resets preferences, not documents. Map items always reflects the loaded, filtered scene. Read-together relationships belong to document Graph tabs and are not displayed on this workspace map.
